The Snow by Hugh Walpole is a Christmas ghost story set in a cathedral close, where a married couple sit watching the snow fall. Neither is happy, and the wife believes she is haunted. She searches for someone who can help her, but whether she can escape what is coming for her is another matter.
Hugh Walpole (1884-1941) was a popular English novelist who also wrote a number of fine supernatural tales, many of them drawing on his love of cathedral towns and the gloom of English winters.
